Let’s Talk Pressure—The Blood Kind
Hypertension (HTN), or high blood pressure, occurs when the force of blood pushing against your artery walls stays elevated over time. Picture your arteries like a garden hose—if the water pressure is too high for too long, the hose wears out. The same goes for your arteries: sustained high pressure can lead to serious health consequences.
In this course, we’ll start by defining blood pressure, exploring how it’s measured, and identifying the key factors that influence it.
You will encounter these concepts on school and national exams and on a daily basis at work, although you may not use those exact terms. Patients will ask questions about how their medications work, and the knowledgeable medical professional will be able to answer their questions with confidence.
